Am 10. und 11. Februar feiert der actionreiche Red-Bull-Skicross Premiere in Südtirol. Als Austragungsort dient der Kronplatz, der zu den beliebtesten Skibergen der Region zählt und dem Event auch seinen Namen gibt. Beim Red-Bull Kronplatz-Cross handelt es sich nicht um ein gewöhnliches Skicross-Rennen. Um die traditionelle Variante dieser an sich schon aufregenden Sportart noch aufzupeppen, steht ein spektakulärer Teamwettkampf auf dem Programm, der bei Nacht ausgetragen wird und als Staffellauf konzipiert ist.
Die Teilnehmer treten jeweils in Dreierteams an. Die ersten Läufer der Mannschaft starten, überwinden zuerst einen steilen Hang, dann eine Reihe von Hindernissen. Im Ziel angelangt, müssen sie jeweils einen Knopf drücken, der das Starttor für den nächsten Läufer des Teams öffnet. Sieger ist das Team, dessen letzter Läufer als erster die Ziellinie überquert.
Neben den 19 Mannschaften, die die Qualifikation überstehen, nehmen auch fünf so genannte Wild-Card-Teams – eingeladene Profis – am Finale teil. Das Event hautnah erleben können die Zuschauer auf der Partyline, die neben der Strecke verlaufen wird.
Programm:
- Freitag, 10. Februar: Ankunft und Registrierung der Athleten ab 16.30 Uhr. Um 18 Uhr starten die Trainingsläufe, zwischen 20 und 22 Uhr werden die Qualifikationsrennen ausgetragen.
- Samstag, 11. Februar: Ankunft und Registrierung der Athleten ab 17 Uhr. Zwischen 18.30 und 19.30 Uhr finden die Trainingsläufe statt, um 20.30 Uhr startet das Rennen.
